A few more points...

  • Ceptr is a framework for distributed semantic computing. It evolved from the work of the MetaCurrency Project which required infrastructure which could take us far beyond blockchain ledgers and APIs.
  • There isn't a lot of conceptual documentation stuff about it. It is hard to estimate the status of the project.
  • The focus of the developers is distributed semantic computing from the ground and up which allows tight coupling of data and meaning.
  • Another interesting concept is that receptors (lightweight virtual machines) which are the atomic processing units of the framework are capable to decide if they can 'understand' (i.e. process) the incoming signals. If that is not the case, they can install the appropriate protocol on the fly. This allows a very high level of interoperability.
  • Ceptr is not trustless in the sense that blockchain technology allows. Trust is achieved locally among agents and processes via mutual signatures (?) A bit more about it can be found in a draft paper here.
